Scott Mize brings a wicked clarity to the spy Spoletta's tenor... it
is his physical characterization of Spoletta, and especially the
smile he wears as Mario is tortured, that most memorably
underscores the opera's eternal political relevance.

He brought solid musicianship to the role of Alamiro... has a
voice than can fill a hall.

Don Ottavio, sung by tenor William Scott Mize, is one of the
most thankless roles in opera... Ottavio usually comes across as
a "God help us" wimp who is not likely to hit his fiancé's
attacker with anything stronger than a summons. Besides having
a good stage presence, Mize was believable in his sword fight
with the Don and his projection of anger seemed genuine.
